The Rebel

Roman-born DJ/producer Tommaso Taroni, aka The Rebel, founded label DJ’s Choice in 2017 as the natural progression of a travelling party series he created and run in Rome for over a decade.
Conceived as a collaborative project with an international dimension and multicultural aesthetic, the series aimed to bring together a community of like-minded artists and music lovers in Rome’s underground scene.  Similar in spirit, if not in form, to hip-hop block parties, DJ’s Choice events featured DJ sets from special guest DJs from all over the world, thus exposing participants to different music genres, DJing styles and techniques they were often unfamiliar with.    

DJ’s Choice first release as a label was the 7-inch single Warrior, a reggae-inspired track by The Rebel featuring singer Dark Angel, remixed on the B-side by Russian-born DJ/producer Vadim  (copies sold out quickly and are now almost impossible to find).  Soon afterwards, Four Flies Records espoused the project and took DJ’s Choice under their wings, with The Rebel continuing as artistic director. Under his supervision, the label keeps releasing international collaborations between DJ/producers that put a contemporary, urban spin on world music.
