Sandro Brugnolini

A key influence in the development and popularity of jazz in Italy, Sandro Brugnolini (1931-2021) was a musician (sax and clarinet), arranger, composer and journalist.

Now regarded as one of the greats of Italian library music (especially due to his trilogy of albums – Underground, Overground and Superground), he wrote and recorded hundreds of scores for documentaries, films, TV and radio shows.

His unique style is a combination of jazz, psychedelic and prog music and goes hand in hand with his experimentation with some of the first monophonic synthesizers – he wrote dozens of early electronic/computer music pieces under the moniker Narassa. 

In the course of his career, he worked with the likes of Stefano Torossi, Massimo Catalano, Alessandro Alessandroni, Giuliano Sorgini, Silvano Chimenti, Franco Goldani, Antonello Vannucchi, and Enrico Pieranunzi.
