BOSSA NOVA SPRITZ

Brazilian-flavoured Italian lounge

Welcome to a selection of slick, soothing and sophisticated Brazilian-flavoured tunes recorded and/or produced by Italian artists of the past and present!

As some of you will know, during the ‘60s and ‘70s the rhythms of bossa nova found their way into Italian cinema, television and radio. Tasked with writing music that would work well with a variety of moods, from the whimsical to the erotic, many of our film and library composers re-imagined the Brazilian genre, fusing it with our melodic and orchestral traditions.

The cinematic, dreamy Brazilian-inflected style created by the likes of Piero Umiliani, Alessandro Alessandroni, Berto Pisano and Fabio Fabor (just to mention a few of the names in this selection) has since been recognized as part of the unique sound now known as Italian lounge, which continues to inspire contemporary artists today (Banda Maje, Larry Manteca, Dedy Dread & The Rebel).

The cocktail’s already been mixed for you. Just press play, relax and sip it slowly. You’ll see visions of sunsets, oleanders, wavy dresses, tuxedos, and lighted swimming pools.
